Parents and Babies
At Bodywise, three of our practitioners have a special interest in issues related to reproductive health:
Fertility
Tejapushpa (Acupuncture) treats women and men who want to increase their fertility. She has experience of working with clients who are having difficulty conceiving, are undergoing IVF treatment or who have miscarried.
Pregnancy
We work with individual clients, helping them throughout pregnancy and addressing pregnancy related conditions e.g. nausea, vomiting, indigestion, odema, irregular bleeding, back and abdominal pain and foetal positioning.
We are available to assist at the birth of your baby, should you want this type of support either at home or in hospital.
We also work with women in the postnatal period, helping your body to recover and return to optimal health.
Shiatsu in maternity care - Are you looking for: a relaxing, effective treatment which is safe during pregnancy? Natural alternatives around labour and birth? A quiet space to connect with yourself and your baby? Shiatsu can help in all these ways and more during pregnancy.
Baby overdue? Shiatsu has been shown to increase the chance of going into labour spontaneously (research by Ingram, Domagala and Yates (2005)).
Hannah Mackay has completed specialist training in using shiatsu during maternity care (See Wellmother web link below). Shiatsu is a safe, relaxing and effective treatment which is appropriate throughout pregnancy, as well as in labour and the postnatal period. Hannah will choose suitable techniques for you - these are likely to be particularly gentle during the first three to four months of pregnancy.
Maryline also runs pregnancy yoga classes (Thursdays 11.30am-1pm with an option to leave at 12.30pm).
Birth Rehearsals
In these classes with Maryline, yoga postures and breathing are put in the context of birthing to show dads and birth partners how to give useful support during labour. The next workshop will be on Sunday 29 April 2012 10.15am - 11.45am or Thursday 7 June 3pm - 4.30pm. Cost £30 per couple including refreshments and snack. To book or for more information, contact Maryline on 0784 302 3515.
Shiatsu can be used during the birth process – Hannah offers sessions for you and your birth partner to learn points and techniques for labour.
Babies
Maryline runs mum and baby yoga classes (Thursdays 1.15pm-2.30pm).
