Ayurveda
Ancient Wisdom for Modern Life: An Introduction to Ayurveda.
Jane Craggs will be teaching a series of 5 workshops introducing the basic tenets of Ayurveda, the ancient life science of India. This is said to be one of the oldest systems of healing so far known to man. Like the Chinese system, more commonly referenced in the West, Ayurveda is all about balancing our nature with the elements around us, especially our food. Like Yoga, it is both an art and a science and the two systems can support each other very well when we learn a little more about our own constitution.
Both Ayurveda and yoga are about cultivating Sva'stha which literally means 'established in the self'. Ayurveda is one of the tools that can help us on our path to personal reintegration and living well in the world.

These introductory days give a fascinating glimpse into the history of Ayurveda and the theory behind it. We will discover how we are inextricably linked to the natural world around us according to our personal constitution (dosha), which we will learn about through group work and completing an in-depth questionnaire. We will look at simple tips to help us stay balanced, taste some typical foods and drinks as well as learning a little about Ayurvedic therapies.
