Alexander Technique
The Alexander Technique has been in the UK for over 100 years. FM Alexander discovered that we translate everything, whether physical, emotional, mental or spiritual, into muscular tension. This technique can help anyone with physical, mental or emotional conditions resulting from ingrained habits.
Using this simple yet far-reaching Technique, we can learn ways to unravel harmful tension into useful energy. By changing our habits, we can change poor posture and its detrimental effects and transform from stress and strain to rediscover ease and poise. The Technique teaches how to think and act by choice rather than habit; and we release excessive effort and regain balance, our natural poise and vitality, which means we look and feel better.
Other benefits include reduction in stress, improved performance for actors and musicians and presentation skills. Lucy specialises in working with women who are more than 15 weeks pregnant to help them improve how they use themselves in ever changing circumstances to find more freedom and ease during pregnancy and childbirth.
It’s a skill to learn through participation involving a guiding touch, verbal instructions and everyday activities. All learning requires practice, which can easily be incorporated into your day; no special equipment or exercises are needed. The Technique can enhance your general co-ordination, and alleviate aches and pains – and it is fun and enjoyable.
